After we collect $400 in donations, we will take that money to a local Apple Store. We will purchase the iPod, open it right inside the store, and destroy it right on the spot. The whole thing will be shot on film, and displayed on this site. This is only a social experiment, for the entertainment of the donors, and visitors of this site. For more info, read the faq. |

March 2nd 2006 - 1am - Been a long time since I posted anything new on this page. We just got sponsored by a bunch of Euros to smash a brand new iPod Nano, which we are going to do this week. The video should be out on the 14th or the 15tth. So check back!

November 4th t 2005 - 6pm - Part 2 of the Smash My Ipod is out. A week later we went back to the mall, and visited some stores, including the Apple store and tried to get the ipod fixed. Click the download link to view the video!
October 31st 2005 - 5pm - I have been monitoring where the traffic is coming from, and today a few interesting sites popped up. Mainly a few sites claiming that this is all a scam. I found that hilarious....
Cultofmac.com claims - "Simpson didn't respond to a request for comment. But in the video, you can see him buying a new iPod for yourself.".
In would have responded if you actually gave me the chance to do so. I didn't receive any emails from you.
Tuaw.com writes - "It's ten minutes long, and the first nine minutes feature the webmaster's purchase of a (brand new, 5G) iPod."
An Apple fan site, that doesn't know what a 5G looks like? I hate the iPod, and even I know the difference, but here are some pictures which show you what I mean.
Now, lets look at the pictures of the 5G ipod... you can see them here. Looks quite different.... doesn't it? iPod Video (5G) box is about 1/3 the width of the 4G box that we bought from the Apple Store, and if you watch the video... its pretty clear. For the visually impaired, who couldn't see that from the video... here is a still.
Their 3rd source, Scam.com claims that we are an "obvious scam". Hmm... interesting, a random guy who just registered to the forum, and only has 1 post, suddenly becomes 1st rate source for a news article. I hear iPods cause cancer and genetic mutations in fetuses.
We bought a 4G iPod from the Apple Store... since Video ipods weren't arriving for another week, we opened it, and smashed it. You think too highly of your precious iPod... I wouldn't go through this just so I could get a new one. Im perfectly happy with my Dell Axim, and I wouldn't trade it for iPod Photo, iPod Video, or iPod Vacuum Cleaner (or whatever the next version is).
Now, quit spreading lies.

October 21h 2005 - 11am - Ok, now that I got some time, I'll tell you all some details about last night's smashing. It was a disaster! Out of 3 cameras that we had, the laptop operated "cup cam" didn't record a single thing after the laptop decided to turn off right in the middle of the shoot. The other 2 cameras managed to get some decent footage, even though we had to film without getting caught with the cameras in a busy store. The most upsetting thing is that the camera that failed was supposed to film the reactions. You could hear what people have to say, but not much is seen on the footage that we got. But don't fret, I usually tend to be very critical.
Now, while you wait for me to edit the footage, amuse yourself with these games.
October 20h 2005 - 7pm - Good news! The ipod has been smashed! We ran into some technical difficulties, but we did it. Video will be released shortly, here are some pictures for your enjoyment! Sorry for the crap quality, Im in a hurry! More on that tomorrow!

October 15h 2005 - 3am - We scouted the store today, its very poorly built. Cheap wooden displays, and cheap wooden floor. Breaking the iPod in there without destroying the store will be a challenge. I also had an interview at Daily Noise, you can download the podcast (oh the irony) on their site. Im doing a 2nd interview at 76east on Sunday at 6pm EST. Im also redoing the forums tomorrow, so be sure to check those out. If the smashing idea isn't your thing, check out Boredom Forums for a more civilized discussion.
October 13h 2005 - 1am - Ohh wow! What a crazy day! We just had $25 remaining, and I got over $150 in donations! But anyways, the goal has been met, and now we are preparing for the next stage, the actual taping! This should happen within the next week, the date and time will remain a mystery until the video has been shot. Some iPod fanboys tipped off the Apple store about our possible arrival, so this will make things extra difficult for us, and we might even be forced to do it at our alternate location, but that has not been decided yet. I will keep you posted when things start happening, but for now feel free to go chat on the forum or check out our other projects, which are accessible via links on top of this page!

October 12h 2005 - 11am - Just $25 remains! Im hoping this will be raised by the end of the day, which means we could proceed with the planning. I took a photo of the equipment we will be using, sorry for the poor quality, had to use my phone cam since I cant find my digi cam.
Ohh by the way, as you see, this site no longer promotes "nazi propaganda". Thanks Dave for sending us a less controversial cracked screen pattern!

October 12h 2005 - 12am - Received more donations! We are getting very close to the goal! I updated the fan/hate mail sections. Im also going to be doing 2 interviews, the first 1 at the DailyNoise on friday at 1:30pm and the 2nd at 76east sometime on sunday.

October 1th 2005 - 1am - Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians. Im a little late, was working all day. Got home, and had a nice surprise in my email. Over $60 in donations, and a lot of hatemail! Also, all you bible thumpers! Stop telling me to donate money to charity! If you are such humanitarians, stop paying your TV/internet bills, sell your car and computer and use the money to feed the poor! No? Then pipe down!

October 8th 2005 - 12am - Just got home from work, and opened my email. Ohh my, so many messages! Most were actually positive, with only 2 new hate emails! Check out the hate mail and fan mail pages, some people actually sent in pictures.
Thanks to all the new donors, your help is much appreciated.
On a side note, Mike Gaudet simply won't give up, feel free to give him some extra special attention.
Ohh yah, one more thing. We will be launching 3 more websites which will fit into the whole smashing thing really well. So if iPod smashing isn't really your cup of tea, one of these 3 sites will be.
October 7th 2005 - 1am - I decided to finally put up the hate mail and fan mail pages, due to very popular demand. These pages will be updated regularly, when i receive something worth posting, so keep checking them every once in a while!
October 7th 2005 - 12am - Another day passed by, and the traffic seems to hold at the 3000/day mark, Im pretty impressed. Received another couple of donations, the biggest one being from the guys at WeakGame.com be sure to tell all your friends about this site!
October 6th 2005 - 1am - Well, the 2nd day has came to an end, and we are almost at $100! I received a lot more hate, and fan mail, which will soon be posted on this site, probably in a few days, so keep checking back! if you are a fan of this idea, be sure to email the flamers and let them know what you think!
October 4th 2005 - 9pm - Well, about 20 hours later, the site has received about 3000 hits, and over $50 in donations. We also received a decent amount of hatemail from a few crafty individuals, some of which you can contact through the emails posted under the "Flamers" column.
October 4th 2005 - 2am - Site has been officially launched. Donation goal has been set at $400 USD, which should be enough to purchase a 20GB iPod.
